Educators!
Are you interested in learning a bit more about bulletin boards and how they can drastically improve your classroom atmosphere?
Interactive bulletin boards are for more than just classroom decor, they can improve student's long-term retention of many different subjects.
What is an interactive bulletin board? Great Question! Interactive bulletin boards include pieces that students can physically get up from their desks, place, and interact with the bulletin board. It can include engaging tasks for students, or movable pieces that help instruct.
How many of you have spent countless hours using a Die Cut Machine or a Cut Module to make shapes, letter, and bulletin boards for your classroom?
Most of you probably have!
Whether or not you will be in class, teaching virtually, or a hybrid of both, bulletin boards and the manipulatives that go along with them can be a great way to convey messages, information, motivation, and more to your students!
I spent 10 years teaching in an early childhood development center. I spent a LOT of time cutting out visuals and manipulatives for children from 6 weeks-12 years old. It takes countless hours to design and laminate visuals for the classroom. I was using an old-fashioned hot laminator which many of you probably know, it takes a while to heat up, peels after a short period of time, and is extremely slow. I loved creating colorful bulletin boards and manipulatives for the kids, and most of the time I changed them out monthly! It helps children connect the abstract ideas of math, science, and many other subjects and lessons, into a way that they can understand and connect with.
Since bulletin boards are widely used as a visual educational tool in the classroom, teachers spend a lot of time and effort to make them create meaningful and effective experiences.

Our modern technological advances have a direct impact on the format, style, and efficiency of the delivery and consumption of educational content. No matter what a student’s main learning style is (visual, auditory, reading/writing, or kinesthetic) we could argue that 100% of students connect with educational content through visual learning.

Some teachers prefer to have consistent boards throughout the year and change the content, but not the subject. For instance, keeping a math bulletin board or a writing prompt board up year-round can provide consistency, even though the activities themselves will change. This is especially important for students who need a predictable space in order to focus on the tasks at hand.
